There have been many historic Black/African American golf courses throughout the United States. Some of these courses were built during the era of segregation, when Black Americans were not allowed to play at courses designated for whites. These courses were often built by Black Americans themselves or by sympathetic white individuals or organizations. Here are some examples of historic Black/African American golf courses:

  1. Langston Golf Course – Washington, D.C.
  2. Clearview Golf Club – East Canton, Ohio
  3. Shady Rest Golf and Country Club – Scotch Plains, New Jersey
  4. Lincoln Park Golf Course – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  5. East Potomac Golf Course (formerly known as “Public Links”) – Washington, D.C.
  6. Rock Hill Golf and Country Club – Manorville, New York
  7. Pine Crest Golf Course – Lexington, North Carolina
  8. Highland Park Golf Course – Birmingham, Alabama
  9. James E. Stewart Golf Course – Louisville, Kentucky
